Guiding Principles for Success

Six keys to achieving the outcomes our clients want

“Success” looks different for every client we work with. But over the years we’ve identified six guiding principles that consistently help us help our clients achieve successful outcomes—however they define success for themselves.

Establish clear objectives

In the beginning, gaining clarity around the real objectives of our work together might seem daunting, especially when complex issues or emotions cloud the view. Diamond Insight works with you to define success criteria and identify the concrete outcomes you wish to achieve.

Leverage strengths, acknowledge weaknesses

Clients often believe they need to spend all their time and energy “fixing” their weaknesses. The truth is that, you usually get more mileage from focusing on your strengths and refining your own natural gifts. At the same time, acknowledging weaknesses (we all have them!) helps you mitigate their impact on your work and growth.

Reframe to see new possibilities—head, heart, and gut

Don’t be surprised if we ask you to step outside of the box and embrace the unfamiliar as we explore the possibilities for your growth and development. The ability to align our head (language/narratives), heart (mood, emotion), and gut (sensation, intuition) is key for growth and progress.

Break down firewalls

Compartmentalizing work and home or isolating our mind from our body and emotions may feel “neat and tidy,” but doing so denies the complex and interwoven nature of our lives and limits our problem-solving capabilities. We believe in a holistic, “whole person” approach to helping our clients reach their full potential.

Practice, practice, practice—and recognize the (incremental) progress

When you learned to ride a bike, you wobbled and probably scraped a few knees before you took off. That’s how we learn: not by doing it right from the get-go but by experimenting and making mistakes. So if you wobble and fall as an adult, don’t despair—that’s a sign of progress. We are what we practice.

Have fun!

Growth doesn’t have to be drudgery! Having a sense of humor helps keep perspective and momentum, making even the rockiest paths more surmountable and smooth.
